Snowboarding: The forecast is looking good for as another early season storm bears down on the West Coast of the US. A few mountains have already opened with limited runs and we are hoping this next wave of storms will kick off an El Nino inspired winter season. Mt Bachelor is schedule to open on the 20th. "The forecast looks wintry and mountain crews are at work preparing their departments for what’s sure to be a busy opening weekend," said Dave Rathbun, President and General Manager.

Please comment TODAY on the Turtle Bay Expansion EIS.
PLEASE DISTRIBUTE FAR AND WIDE!
The Honolulu Advertiser’s wrote in today’s editorial, “Court should clarify worth of years-old EIS". If the high court decides to take the appeal, as it should, the state will get clearer direction of how environmental law should apply to development that has languished on the drawing boards for years.
And although the Kuilima Resort Co. project is at the center of this case, there are other projects with environmental impact statements prepared long ago. The original proposal for Makena Resort on Maui, for example, was based on an EIS completed in 1974.
It is not right that the developers should be allowed to begin development 20 or 200 years after an EIS is accepted without having to reconsider potential impacts. Keep the North Shore Country and Sierra Club have been seeking a Supplemental EIS for the Turtle Bay Resort in the courts since 2006. If the Supreme Court does not accept the case, our challenge of the environmental review will probably be over.
Meanwhile, Stanford Carr continues to press ahead with the expansion plan and continues to seek final subdivision approval from the City and County of Honolulu. They are very close.
We are near the end of the process. Now is the time to speak up!
This editorial gives you an excellent opportunity to share your concerns about the Turtle Bay Resort Expansion Plan and the City’s refusal to order a supplemental EIS. Please take a moment to send your comments to the Letters to the Editor and also post an on-line comment. Letters to the Editor are more effective.

HURLEY PRO TRESTLES 2009
Pro Surfing: The 2009 Hurley Pro at Lower Trestles run Sept 13-19th.
This high-performance pointbreak peels across a rocky coastline and can pump up to 150 metres down the point when a south or southwest swell shows up. The left is a quicker, hollower, punchier wave, while the right is a longer, more even-paced beauty ready to be released upon with aggressive and unforgiving gusto. Both boast the ability to make even an average surfer appear gifted.
Trestles, the only men’s ASP World Tour event on mainland USA, made its debut in 2000 as the Billabong Pro won by Andy Irons. Boost Mobile came on board in 2002, and has sponsored the mid-season men’s event ever since. The 2006 BMP of Surf will be the cell phone company’s fifth foray as headlining sponsor… Hurley is the presenting sponsor of the Boost Mobile Pro at Trestles.

Coxos ericeira portugal: Portugal is a great place to visit. It is still relatively inexpensive and the country is beautiful. I went there in September 2007 and had a great experience. Definitely a must do trip if you haven't surfed in Europe. The surf spots are spread out so a guided tour is the way to go. Check out Surfing In Portugal Guided Surf Trips on Surftrip.com

Panama Surf Trip
So I've been really busy since taking on management of Snowboarding.com and the Snowboarding Community which have experienced significant growth so far this season and occupied a majority of my time. Anyway, it's time for a surf trip and I'm heading to Panama.
I was in Maui this summer and hooked up with an old friend from UC Santa Barbara, Scott Balogh. He was working on a sailing charter boat called the Paragon which heads out to Molokini on day trips. Which by the way I highly recommend. Every boat over there claims to be the fastest boat in Maui but none compare the the Paragon. We blew by the fleet like they were standing still. My family had so much fun we went on the Paragon twice. The crew was great and the sailing was phenomenal.
Scott happens to own and operate an Eco Resort, Red Frog Bungalows, in the Bocas del Toro on the Caribbean side of Panama. He invited me to come down and check it out and I accepted. I am leaving on February 2nd and will be writing a daily Surf Trip Blog on Surf Trip.com's Surf Travel Community.
I'll be taking three of my trusty Stamps Surfboards: 6'8" Round Pin, 6'6" Square Tail and a 6'5" Swallow tail; all thrusters.
Check back if you are interested and let me know if you have any questions along the way.
Cheers,
Jason
